Calico stray turns up in a backyard looking for a place to sleep and ends up finding the hooman who chooses her right back

Olive Marbles showed up in a backyard one night, and four days later her new hooman was already making her a playlist.

Her future pawrent was pretty excited about the surprise visitor from the start. Orange and black cats happen to be their favorites, and Olive, being a calico, conveniently showed up with a little bit of both. They spent that first night playing together and assumed she'd probably be gone by morning. Olive disagreed. She stuck around and started sleeping in the shed, which is a pretty bold move for a cat who technically hadn't been invited to move in yet.

For the next few days, Olive enjoyed her new outdoor setup with regular meals, playtime, and a hooman who was getting more attached by the hour. Eventually, it was time to take her to the vet and check for a microchip. Instead of bringing Olive home afterward, though, the shelter took her in. Her new friend was crushed and worried that their little backyard buddy might be gone for good. Four days together was apparently more than enough time to get emotionally invested, because Olive even got her own playlist while they were apart. We fully support this level of cat attachment.

A couple of days later, the call finally came. The shelter told Olive's finder that they would have first dibs once she was officially available for adoption. After worrying that they might never see her again, they were getting the chance to bring her home for good. Obviously, Olive wasn't going back to shed life.

Now this sweet little monster is officially part of the family. She showed up unannounced, hung around long enough to make herself impossible to forget, and somehow turned a four-day backyard visit into a permanent living arrangement. We have to respect the technique.

Her new pawrent put it perfectly: "She chose me, and I chose her back." Olive clearly knew exactly which backyard to wander into.

Olive better get ready because some seriously amazing cuddles are coming her way. She’s officially got a hooman who was attached enough to make her a playlist after only four days, so we can already tell this little lady is about to be spoiled. No more sleeping out in the shed when there are warm laps, soft blankets, and plenty of snuggles waiting inside. We hope Olive likes being held, because her new pawrent has a lot of lost cuddle time to make up for.

Congratulations on officially being blessed by the Cat Distribution System! Olive clearly took one look at this backyard and decided she’d found her person. A few days of hanging around, sleeping in the shed, and being ridiculously cute was all it took. The CDS works in mysterious ways, but this delivery seems to have gone exactly according to plan. Enjoy your new little calico overlord!

Olive really lucked out in the fur department because her coloring is gorgeous. She has such a fun mix of orange, black, and white all packed into one adorable little calico. No wonder her new hooman was excited when she first appeared in the backyard. With markings that unique and a face that cute, Olive was going to be pretty hard to forget.
